Front 9 | Back 9

1: Par 4, 348 yards
Excellent starting hole. Beware of fairway bunkers both left and right. Look to white 150 yard markers to gauge tee shot length. Mid to short iron to small green slopes back to front, short right for any misses, long left is a sure bogey. Players properly warmed up with a small bucket of range balls should leave hole 1 with 4 on their card.
2: Par 5, 552 yards
Keep tee shot left center of fairway on this par 5. Beware, tee design aligns player into trees right. Fairway narrows approaching green. Avoid large bunker 80 yards from green. Three well placed shots should yield excellent birdie opportunity.
3: Par 4, 406 yards
Dogleg right par 4. Trees left and right off tee. Large mounding bisects fairway. Short to mid iron for second into kidney-shaped green with traps left and right. Approaches long right is bogey. Par should be the norm.
4: Par 4, 339 yards
At only 339 yards, birdie 3 looks great on card with hole 5 and 6 in your future. Again, look to white 150 yard markers for guidance. Water right, OB left. Left center of fairway is ideal. Sets up short iron to small, sloping green. Short right vs. long left for misses.
5: Par 3, 189 yards
Mid irons are the most likely club of choice for this relatively short par 3. small green is well protected by 3 well placed bunkers. Green slopes back to front. Check the wind as club selection is key. Par to be expected.
6: Par 4, 438 yards
Nothing fancy to this long, often in to the wind, long par 4. Requires long iron or fairway wood second, even for professionals. Large bunker protects right of green, making approach to middle of green the prudent option. Use 1 extra club for back pin position. Making 4 on 6 is like birdie.
7: Par 5, 583 yards
A favorite hole at Ancil Hoffman. Rated the toughest for both men and women. Large oak trees left and right off tee. Play right center of fairway for first and second shots. Hole opens at 100 yard marker. Bunker right 40 yards from green should not come into play. Green side bunkers left and right guard relatively flat green. Take par or bogey and run, don't walk, to 8th tee.
8: Par 4, 405 yards
Medium length par 4 with very large tree 200 yards off tee. Small fairway bunker at 150 marker adds shape and depth to hole. Very small back to front sloping green with well protected bunkers and trees. Stay to front of green. Long second shots will be penalized. Be careful, number 8 plays harder than it looks.
9: Par 3, 197 yards
Straight forward par 3 requires mid to long iron selection off tee. Avoiding bunkers off tee should yield par or better.
10: Par 5, 512 yards
Orient drive to right center of fairway, avoiding both water right and bunker left. Open fairway for second and third shots make this par 5 a birdie possibility. Trouble around green is long right and 2 green side bunkers.
11: Par 4, 373 yards
Short, dog legged par 4 with a premium on driving accuracy. Look to right center of fairway for best landing area. Large furrow which bisects fairways and large bunker await mistakes. Mid to short iron for second to small well guarded green. Miss short or long, not left or right on approach.
12: Par 4, 440 yards
Two of your very best will be necessary to reach this long par 4. Fairway narrows at 150 yards with tree groves left and right. Keep misses short and right of green for best angle for third. Shots left, right and long make bogey or worse possible.
13: Par 4, 376 yards
Dog leg right par 4 requires accurate, left center of fairway drive. Large bunker guards fairway right. Narrow front of green brings 2 green side bunkers into play. Green slopes back to front. With a good drive, players can leave 13 with a birdie.
14: Par 3, 127 yards
Short, uphill par 3 requires well selected short iron off tee. Club to middle of green to avoid bunkers left, right and long. Trusting score card yardage is key. Best birdie opportunity at Ancil Hoffman.
15: Par 4, 347 yards
Three wood or long iron off tee are popular choices on this short, dog leg left par 4. Look to 150 yard makers to gauge drive and approach angle. Very small green slopes left to right, back to front. Mid to short iron for second must avoid tree short right and bunker left of green. Avoid going long or left. Good strategy from tee to green should yield par or birdie.
16: Par 4, 449 yards
Now the fun begins. Three of the best finishing holes on any course I've ever played, begins with the long, brutal par 4 16th hole. Smart play off tee uses large fairway tree to aim. Big hitters go over tree, short knockers stay under. Drives right off tee creates nightmare scenario. Play 16 left center of fairway for best angle into green. Large bunker protects green right. At 449 from the back tees and trouble right, par is commendable.
17: Par 3, 179 yards
Good par 3, especially in windy conditions. Hit 1 extra club off tee as hole plays longer than it looks. Green narrows at front and widens in back.
18: Par 5, 534 yards
Excellent finishing par 5 can be reached in two by long hitters. Narrow off tee, with numerous trees left and right. Second efforts must avoid walnut tree guarding fairway right. Approachable green for third, bunkers left and right. Straight hitters will be rewarded with birdie opportunity to win match.
